LG launches 2019 4K and 8K ThinQ TVs with HDMI 2.1 interface

The CES2019 will be held in Las Vegas next week, and prior to this, LG announced several new OLED and LCD ThinQ TV models this year, including the 88-inch 8K OLED and the 75-inch 8K LCD.

The LG 2019 OLED flagship lineup will include 8K Z9 and 4K W9, 4K E9 and 4K C9 series TVs, all of which will feature the company's new second-generation Alpha 9 processor. Thanks to the processor's deep learning algorithms, these models will be able to optimize image and sound quality based on the source content of the playback, and be able to adjust its tone mapping curve and screen brightness to better match the ambient lighting conditions of the user's room. Similarly, Dolby's latest innovative imaging technology will enable TVs to intelligently configure Dolby Vision content to accommodate different ambient light.

In addition, the 88-inch 8K Z9 model offers higher processing power and is available in 4K to 8K upgrades. In addition to video, you can use smart algorithms to upmix two-channel audio to virtual 5.1 surround sound, while also optimizing sound output based on the type of content.

At the same time, the company's second-generation α9 processor will also be included in its flagship 75-inch SM99 8K NanoCell LCD TV. The new NanoCell brand will also be available for the SM8X 4K LCD TV series, which uses NanoCell technology to extend color (NanoColor), wide viewing angle (NanoAccuracy) and ultra-narrow bezel (NanoBezel).

In terms of artificial intelligence services, the 2019 ThinQ TV will have the built-in Google Assistant feature and the support of Amazon Alexa. All 2019 OLED TVs and some NanoCell TVs will also feature an HDMI 2.1 interface that supports high frame rate (HFR) 120 fps playback and enhanced audio return channel (eARC). Similarly, game features such as variable refresh rate (VRR) and automatic low delay mode (ALLM) are also supported.

Pricing and availability of the LG 2019 TV product line has not yet been announced, but more details are expected to be announced at CES2019 in Las Vegas from January 8th to January 11th.
