Customer Questions & Answers

Question: Usb-c port on the hub itself (the one near the ethernet port) is it strictly for charging or i can use it for data transfer as well?

Answer: Mine does not. When I plug the hub to my computer I can connect a VGA display adaptor and an ethernet cable. When I add my phone using Thunderbolt cable, the display and ethernet switch off and my phone does not charge. Looks like the hub is expecting power or some other signal to come in through that USB-C port beside the ethernet port.

Question: Does this work with the 2018 iPad Pro?

Answer: Yes. this 9-in-1 USB-C Hub can work with the 2018 iPad Pro. However the Apple system prohibits data transmission, so some ports on the hub might doesn't work.

Question: Does this require a separate power supply?

Answer: It does not require an external power supply.

Customer Feedback

"It just works, and it's among the cheapest hubs you can find with this feature set. Drivers should not be necessary on common computer operating systems. The only quirk is the audio jack requires HDMI output. The hub does not have a sound card; it only converts HDMI audio to analog.
4 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Ports with support for USB 2.4A fast-charging
-- 2 USB ports are assigned to the card reader and gigabit ethernet
-- 500MB/s (~450MB/s actual) max speed of all devices (card + ethernet) and USB ports combined
5V 3A total power (this is the limit of the on-board power converter)
HDMI 1.4 (with HDCP) + VGA (10-bit up to 1080p) video converter
HDMI 2-CH audio DAC
2 LUN card reader (shows up as two separate drives) for SD and Micro SD cards up to UHS-I (104MB/s max)
Gigabit ethernet with energy-efficient features."

" I had bought one of those ultra-thin laptops and liked it for many things but not everything BUT with this little gem, I can almost do anything on it that I can do with my desktop. It allows me to hook to other monitors, speakers, headphones, SD cards, and my 10BaseT network cable at home (VERY useful) not to mention all the other things it can do but one of the most useful to me other than the hardwired network connection is the fact I only have one spare monitor and it is older on that requires a VGA connection and this gives it to me with no trouble. Add to all this that it is heavy duty while being ultimately portable, the bag might not seem like much unless you have been caught in the rain with your backpack or had some accessory in your backpack scratch your laptop. One of the things I always look for in anything I buy is how well it is packed and this is packed excellently and no corners cut because if they cheat on the packing it means they cheat on something else that might be important"

" This is pretty lightweight, I’d prefer something that feels a little more sturdy, but it works well all the same. I had my headphones, a micro SD card, an SD card, an external hard drive, and a power supply plugged into this thing and it didn’t lag a bit. I love that I can leave this plugged into my computer and allow the device itself to take the wear and tear, saving my laptop. This is a fantastic little invention, I needed it more than I knew."

"I recently started the migration from a PC running Windows to the Apple (PC?) option. I say Apple PC because I’m attempting to make a desktop environment using all of my PC-based accessories. My mix of parts are; 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 (256G, WiFi only), PC parts are a USB-A mechanical keyboard, a Logitech BT ergo trackball mouse, Bose Companion series III speakers, a 34” ultra wide 4K display, with Gig fiber NIC.

POSITIVE INITIAL RESULTS. I get 833mbps down and 98mbps up, so it is a 10/100/1000 NIC port. I also get proper mouse function, which is amazing, although a little choppy (could be a dirty trackball or sensor), and loudspeaker output. What I don’t get is any keyboard response, and while connected the iPad won’t Allow for the on-screen touch keyboard to launch.

I can replace the keyboard and mouse with Apple’s Magic options until I get the new “floating Magic keyboard and trackpad” combo in May.

My only hit would be the short attached 6“ USB-C cable, but that is standard with most portable docks (not reduction in stars), so I’ve ordered a 1’ USB-C extension for easier docking.

This doc is made of metal, feels substantial, and is ultra-portable. I’ll take it with me when traveling specifically for the network adapter so I can avoid horrible hotel Wi-Fi, and also for the card reader.

I’ve tried a few docks, and this one is the only one to date that gives a full Gig through put.

An initial high recommend.

Final note. I’ve not attempted to plug my Apple power adapter in to see if a couple of the things I don’t get are because the iPad does not send enough power. I will update you with additional results."
