The STC-LL013 USB 3.0 To VGA External Graphic Card Video Converter Adapter lets you add a high-resolution (1920×1200) external VGA output to your desktop or laptop computer, using an available USB 3.0 port.
USB 3.0 to VGA Adapter is TAA compliant and turns a USB 3.0 port into a VGA output port with 1920×1200 (WUXGA) video support. The adapter features built-in USB 3.0 pass-through, which offers a connection port in place of the USB port used for connecting the VGA adapter – an ideal workaround for Ultrabook or laptop users where only a limited number of USB ports are available.
Functioning as an external graphics card, this USB to VGA adapter provides a convenient way to add multi-monitor capability to a USB 3.0-enabled desktop or laptop computer (optimal performance from USB 3.0, backward compatible with USB 2.0).
Leveraging the high-bandwidth (5 Gbps) SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, the adapter delivers smooth, high-definition content to your VGA display / projector. The adapter can be used to mirror your primary desktop, showing the same image on each display, or to extend your desktop to double your workspace and increase your productivity.
Backed by a StarTech.com 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

“Obligated to leave a review here – there is absolutely no driver on the StarTech support site, and what I received says it is windows compatible only. This is NOT actually the case. If you look at the chipset, there are multiple products around that are the same chipset and Mac compatible, so you just need one of those drivers. The SIIG page has drivers for various Mac OS X versions, including 10.11.1. I’m not sure Amazon will take a link, so basically you need to go to the SIIG website and look for their JU-DV0211-S1 drivers, or just buy that product instead. The chipset on this particular product is the Trigger 2 T2-285A chipset from Magic Control Technology corp and you can also go to their website and look for the latest drivers for their UV-A8301 product. The magic word is this is the “Trigger 2″ driver that you need. When the rest of the reviews say you’ll need to hunt it down, better believe it! Installation and restart required, and you’ll have to bypass the driver security in 10.11 by turning it off under system preferences / security”.
“Just got the USB 2.0 version, works well except when I use a Dell E2211Hc flat screen LCD as the 2nd monitor, the pointer only shows up upon a “restart”….in other words, if you log out (as either an Admin or other user) and then log back in, then the pointer no longer shows up on the 2nd screen…..once you restart again, then it will show back up and work right.
EDIT 6-2-17: When I switched to an older Samsung SyncMaster 171s flat screen LCD monitor for the 2nd screen, the pointer problem mentioned above goes away. I am thinking about getting a new ASUS monitor and trying that since the SyncMaster is basically square and not wide-screen.
I searched and found the following possible solution for the pointer issues with the Dell Monitor (but it did NOT help or improve anything):
“I’ve tried this adapter on two PCs, both running the latest version of Windows 10. In both cases, Windows disabled the driver because it had problems. I used the latest driver from StarTech’s Web site. I installed it per directions on their Web site. I tried a second time on each machine installing it in Windows compatibility mode. I tried removing the driver and using the driver that Windows supplied. One of the PCs was a Lenovo laptop. The other was an Asus desktop”.
“This is exactly what I was looking for. I needed something that would convert my USB port on my Mac to a second video out for a stage display using ProPresenter 6 and this works great! I was quite sceptical about it at first. It comes with a DVD with Windows drivers on it but after some research I found the driver that works for Mac.
I would give it five stars if I didn’t have to go hunt for the right driver and then download several to see which would work”.
