Customer questions & answers

QUESTION: Are the sata cables sata iii?

ANSWER: These are 22-pin hard drive extension cables for 2.5-inch hard drives. This is an E sata cable, not a sata III

QUESTION: I have a Sabrent Sata hard drive enclosure and I need to connect an internal DVD writer to this - will this cable do the job as the DVD writer won't fit

ANSWER: Your question is all over the road per se. Thus cable is probably not the correct length, but has the correct length. The enclosure & DVD probably use a sata connector, but I'd need to know the model info for each to answer with 100% certainty.

.

QUESTION: does this work for any hard drive? I'm looking to get a PS4 Pro and the hard drive I have is 3.5"

ANSWER: Yes, any SATA hard drive. But, it will look odd hanging out of your PS4. Have you considered putting the drive into a hard drive enclosure and just plugging it into the PS4?

QUESTION: would this cable be able to plug into a sdocku33ef to extend the connection out far enough to connect an optical drive?

ANSWER: No, I don't suggest you use this cable, we recommend our part number STC-Q005

Feedback

"Excellent quality cables. However, I had hoped to be able to use them with a toaster-style drive duplicator so I could dup drives outside of the toaster. Unfortunately, the toaster duplicator required a SATA connection that was flush with one vertical wall of the toaster. The connectors on these cables protrude a bit around the SATA mating connector on the end of the cable. So they would not fit into the toaster. Oh well. I ended up purchasing a KingWin USB 3.0 to SATA and IDE Adapter for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch Hard Drives at STC to do the job of the toaster-style duplicator."

"I recently bought an Xbox 360 Slim and now I'm putting it in a PC case because I'm sick of looking at the dam stock black case. So I found another site that sells the same cables but the cables don't last as long. I bought this online and it arrived early so I could finish my case mod! If you're planning on putting your Xbox 360 Slim in a PC case I highly recommend buying this cable. The other site is AirFlowCables, they claim the wires are high quality but the problem with the cables is they are cheaply made and are rated for a much higher voltage than what the DVD drive is rated for thus causing the DVD drive to burn out."

"I had a WD 1 TB drive with a broken SATA connection (the plastic that holds contacts together was broken on the drive) this fixed the problem and not only did I recover my data, which was all I felt I could hope for, but I am also three month's later still using the drive.....great solution to the broken sata connector we have all, or will all, suffer from. If you haven't, you will, these connections are clearly "planned obsolescence" at its finest."

"I used these cables to convert the MacPro SATA plugs into long cables that I could use an aftermarket RAID card with. It worked very well. The cables are high quality and I have zero complaints. Not much more can be said about cable, you know. I would order again when I need them!"

"Allowed me to hook up a larger external drive with a PS3, connect a hard drive to a laptop without mounting it in there, and use a docking station with a laptop HD without taking it out of the cage. Very useful."

"I've got this for my new computer case which has a SATA Dock. However, the space between the box and the top of the desk is just about to put an HDD it was a bit uncomfortable to use the HDD like that. Thus I've got this nice tool. There is nothing more to say than it just works, cable length is about right - larger cable would have been a problem for me so I'm happy with the product the way it is."
