"Bought this as a just-in-case spare, so it's not in use. But it's just the best solution if you need to display the same screen on two different monitors/projector, at the same price you would pay for the DVI-to-VGA adapter alone."
"I needed to connect a 2nd monitor, with a DVI-D input, to a Wyse thin client. I also had to buy a new monitor since all I had were monitors with VGA inputs. I needed the 2nd monitor as an extended display, not duplicate, (otherwise I could have just used the 2 VGAs I had). I was a little apprehensive since I had already bought the wrong splitter once, (with 2 VGAs) and there was one review saying it would only work with a duplicate display; however, I saw another review that seemed to indicate they were successfully extending displays with this, so I decided to give it a try. When I first connected it, displays were duplicated, but after changing some simple settings as I was directed by our admin, displays were extended just as I had hoped. It was simple to set up and now I'm working happy! I only just got it today, so I can't comment on long term reliability, but it feels well-made and I'm not anticipating any problems. I hope this helps!"
"As many said, this is not biderectional. It is meant for one computer and two monitors, but, as an alternate use, I reversed it and hooked up one monitor so that I can access two computers (not at the same time). The only caveat is that only one may be connected at a time. My laptop has HDMI and I had to get an HDMI/DVI adapter. The monitor is only DVI and VGA. My PC is DVI. I cannot have both cables connected at the same time. So yes, I still have to disconnect either PC or laptop in order for the monitor to work. But at least the cable makes it so that I don't have to keep turning my monitor on it's side to reach the connector. It is easier to connect and disconnect each DVI connection when it is at a distance from the monitor."
"I’ve used them at home and at work to split DVi feeds for recording PowerPoint for side-by-side simulcasts and video recordings of professional presentations. This splitter gives me two images of equal brightness and quality with no distortion. And that was a surprise because the VGA splitter we have that looks the same did NOT work without dimming, discoloration, AND distortions."
