Customer Feedback
"STC cables are pretty reliable. Every PC has 1-3 ports on the back for a monitor. They can use one of several technologies, like the old VGA, hdmi, DVI or Display port. The PC sends the video signal out those ports which connect by cable to your monitor which may have the same or different ports for receiving the video/TV display signal from your PC. Thus a conversion cable like this is for when you have different tech at each end. Make sure you always know if the signal can go only one way, or both ways on the cable. Typically, DisplayPort is out from the PC, and more monitors have hdmi, vga or DVI ports to receive the signal. Some people just get short adapters to convert from one end to the cable, but prefer getting a ready made cable for the specific conversion needed. I used this one for several months until I replaced the older PC with a newer one with different cables. CAVEAT: There are TWO different DVI cable formats, one is 24+1 and the other is 24+5 and you need to ensure your cable end matches the port on the PC or monitor. The +5 has four small pins around the single wide tab located at one end of the plug. The 24+1 WILL NOT fit into a 24+5 port, so be aware of that."
"This cable works perfectly at a FAR cheaper price than your local tech store; I used 2 of them to setup dual displays. "I run dual screens and purchased a new desktop computer to replace an old one. The old PC had a DVI and VGA port, while this new one had a DVI and a DisplayPort; as well as a couple of HDMI ports. My Dell monitors had DVI and VGA connections only, so one cable could be reused. However, I was in need of another cable and found this one. It came quickly an worked on the first try. Construction quality is good and the overall cable looks and feels good."
"These cables are fine, however one came dented in several places, although it does not affect the function. The only issue that one may have with these cables is that there is no locking mechanism for the displayport. If you are using these in a triple monitor setup, I advise purchasing the 10 ft cable. This will vary by a few inches, but unless your PC is desk level the 6 ft cables will be too short. Or at-least the one with the furthest monitor input will be too short to have your pc on the ground with a 2 1/2 ft tall desk. Even if your PC is on the desk, there may not be much lee-way to move your monitors or move your PC to access the rear-input without removing the cables." |
